Introduction of article processing charges on 2 November 2016
2 November 2016
Dear readers and authors of Wind Energy Science,
In its first year, WES received an overwhelmingly positive response from the wind energy research community, for which I am very grateful. The European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) has supported all papers submitted to date by waiving the article processing charges (APCs) so authors can publish free of charge. All papers currently being processed will enjoy that privilege. However, for manuscripts submitted after 2 November 2016 APCs will be levied for the publication of the final revised paper in the journal.
The APCs are categorized according to the submitted material, and authors are charged per published journal page. Thereby, authors can influence the price by using LaTeX instead of Word and by making the paper shorter. Authors lacking financial support can still apply for a waiver or reduction of the APCs. EAWE will support selected papers from the Wind Energy Science Conference (wesc2017.org), which will take place in Copenhagen, 26–29 June 2017.
